Well, I'm in the second book of the series right now.. and pretty far in. Right now, Claire and Jamie are in France trying to stop Charles Stuart from getting funds in order to try and take the throne. Claire knows, because it is history to her, that if he succeeds, the lands will be devestated and Highlanders will be killed by the thousands at Culloden.
However, Jamie is not concered with that right now...
Claire and him have just run into none other than Captain Rack Jandall, whom they believed to be dead. Jamie was set on killing him, but Claire managed to persuade him to wait a year. Just one year. This is because Frank, her husband in her own time, is a decendant of Randall.
Jamie obliges, but for out of all the reasons he shouldn't listen to Claire, he finds one reason that makes him to wait a year to challened Randall to a duel.
If Culloden comes to pass, Jamie wants Frank alive.. So that if need be, Claire may return to someone who loves her. To protect her. And the baby.

Outlander
I think that Outlander is a great book. I have read it once before, and each time it seems to get better. There are five other novels in this series and they all revolve around the life of Claire and Jamie. I like it because there is a great mix between romance, adventure and tragedy. I can't wait to start reading the second one, The Drums of Autumn.
